E-Sys communicates with the car using files called CAFDF (Configuration Automotive Functional Description Files) . In its raw form, BMW strips out the text descriptions of these files to prevent unauthorized editing. Without a "launcher" or "token," the parameters appear as unreadable, blank, or trimmed data (often labeled simply as UNKN_0000_... ).
