The film tells the story of Gil Pender (Owen Wilson), a Hollywood screenwriter who is struggling to find inspiration for his work. During a trip to Paris with his fiancée Inez (Rachel McAdams), Gil discovers a magical portal in the Musée d'Orsay that transports him back in time to the 1920s.
