Do not bring Horsemen or Gyrocopters. Barbarian Phalanxes have a bonus vs. mounted units. You will lose them instantly.
Attacking Barbarian Villages is one of the best ways to gain resources, Gold, and Generals score in the early-to-mid game without generating "bash points" (which prevents the enemy from knowing you are attacking).
