The film that started it all began as a spec script intended for The X-Files . Directed by James Wong, the story kicks off with high school student Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) boarding Flight 180 to Paris. After a horrific premonition of the plane exploding mid-air, Alex frantically exits the plane with a handful of classmates and a teacher. Moments later, they watch the aircraft explode from the airport terminal. Soon after, the survivors begin dying in bizarre accidents, establishing the series' iconic rules and introducing the mysterious mortician, William Bludworth (Tony Todd).
