General Overview
FREEnet (the network For Research, Education, and Engineering), a corporate noncommercial computer network, connects the academic and research computer networks of the Russian Academy of Sciences research institutes, universities, higher education institutions and other scientific, educational, and research organizations.
History
FREEnet was established on 20 June 1991 by N. D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry (ZIOC) of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) with the Network Operation Center at Computer Assistance to Chemical Research of RAS. In nineties, when research and educational community in fSU countries lacked the Internet services, FREEnet has developed infrastructure integrated 15 Russian regional RENs as well as some NRENs abroad. The total number of universities and research institution using FREEnet services at those time overcome 350. Later, in accordance with both academic community changing needs, and with general trends of Russian research and educational networking, FREEnet concentrated mostly on providing network infrastructure and advanced services, which users need especially for their research projects, rather than providing just basic Internet services.
FREEnet participated in numerous national and international projects, including those supported by the Ministry of Sciences, Russian Foundation for Basic Research, etc.

| Keyword Component | Meaning & Significance | | :--- | :--- | | | The project is created by a community developer known as Ankh Tech , who has an official site at ankhtech.weebly.com . | | "ospack" | Stands for Operating System Pack , indicating that the ISO contains a collection of different Windows OS versions. | | "multilingual" | Refers to the Multi-Language support, which allows users to install a system in one of five different languages right from the setup menu. | | "v2" | Denotes Version 2 of this OS Pack, suggesting it is an updated and refined release. | | "iso" | Confirms the package is distributed as an ISO image , a standard format for writing to a USB drive or burning to a DVD. | | "top" | Likely an informal tag added to search results or descriptions to mark it as a highly recommended or "top tier" release. |
While the AnkhTech Multilingual V2 build is widely praised for its agility and lightning-fast boot speeds, users should note its specific architectural changes. This operating system build is heavily stripped down to maintain its minimalist footprint. Components like native network printing queues may be omitted by default to preserve RAM overhead. If your deployment workflow depends on complex enterprise print management or local physical servers, you may need to manually re-enable the print spooler frameworks post-installation.
The primary appeal of an AnkhTech ISO is the removal of "bloatware." Standard Windows installations include telemetry, background services, and pre-installed applications that many users never utilize. By stripping these elements, the Multilingual V2 ISO allows the hardware to focus its power on the user's primary tasks—whether that be high-end gaming or resource-heavy professional software. This "de-bloating" process can significantly lower RAM usage and CPU idle states, breathing new life into older machines. 2. The Power of Multilingual Support
