Expand it to confirm is listed without any yellow exclamation points or red cross marks. Testing via NI MAX (Measurement & Automation Explorer) Launch NI MAX from the desktop shortcut or Start Menu. Expand the Devices and Interfaces subdirectory. Click on GPIB0 (GPIB-USB-HS) . Click the Scan for Instruments button on the top toolbar.

Windows XP requires specific versions of the NI-488.2 driver. Modern versions of NI-488.2 dropped support for legacy operating systems years ago.
